"A Winter Scene in Matlock Bath"
The mainly Georgian building originally served as an annex for the old Matlock Bath Hotel Several famous people stayed here, including Princess Victoria (before she became Queen) and the poet Lord Byron. Their names are etched on one of the windows of the hotel - historical grafitti! This view shows the approach to the Hotel from the south. Behind, the hillside rises steeply to the Heights of Abraham. This is one of three views of Matlock and the surrounding area - the others are Riber Castle and Cromford Village. |
