"The
Dancers"
Two scantily clad girls perform a sensual dance to a
double flute while others clap time in this representation of a scene to
be found in the tomb of Nebamun. Egyptian noblemen really enjoyed
entertaining and depictions of such banquets frequently appeared in
tombs to ensure that their occupant would enjoy pleasurable pastimes in
the afterlife. The cones on the heads of the seated women were filled
with a solid perfume that gradually melted with the heat from their
bodies. |
