"Winged Scarab"

The dung beetle Scarabaeus Sacer was thought by the Egyptians to represent the sun. The scarab became a popular amulet. This example has the wings and tail of a falcon and holds a shen ring (eternity) in its claws along with the lotus and lily - symbols of Upper Egypt.
